Etching on paper depicting an antique marble vase in the gardens of the Villa Medici in Rome. Known as the Medici Vase, it is now held at the Uffizi Museum in Florence. Of immense size, it shows bas-relief representing the Sacrifice of Iphigenia. A young boy, who is thought to be Prince Cosimo de' Medici, the future Grand Duke Cosimo III. sits on ground, facing r., holding pencil, in act of drawing the vase. Size 31 x 27.5 cm.
